How to install Rutube on your smartphone

The Rutube platform, the Russian analog of YouTube, allows users to upload and watch videos of different topics, length and format. In addition, on the platform you can live stream, create channels and enjoy movies and TV series.

After the blocking of Western social networks such as Instagram and Facebook, many bloggers started returning to Rutube, fearing the blocking of YouTube. Now, the video hosting service is actively used to watch videos on PCs and mobile devices. By installing the Rutube app on your smartphone, you can watch videos on the go or at your convenience while lying on the couch.

How to install Rutube on a smartphone?

Install on Android:

  1. Open Google Play on your device and sign in to your Google account.

  2. Tap the magnifying glass icon in the top right corner and type Rutube in the search box.

  3. Tap the “Install” button next to the app icon.

  4. Wait for the download to finish and install the app on your smartphone.

  5. After installation, you can launch the app and authorize through your Google account, or use it without registration. If for some reason Google Play is not available, you can download the .apk installation file from the internet:

  6. Open your mobile browser and download the Rutube application file.

  7. Go to Smartphone Settings, open the “Security” tab and check the “Allow installation of applications from unknown sources” checkbox.

  8. Go to File Manager, find the downloaded file and run it.

  9. Click “Install” and wait for the installation to complete.

Installing on iOS:

For iOS devices such as iPhone and iPad, the Rutube app can only be installed through the official App Store:

  1. Open the App Store on your device.
  2. Type Rutube in the search box and find the corresponding app.
  3. Press the “Download” button.
  4. Confirm the download using Touch ID or Face ID (if supported).
  5. Wait for the download to complete, find the app icon on the home screen and launch. In the Rutube app on iOS, you can both register and watch videos without an account. However, it is recommended to authorize in order to correctly set up a personalized feed.
