Why do I need comments on Facebook?

Comments allow you to:

  • Increase audience engagement.
  • Establish a direct connection between the user and the brand.
  • Express an opinion, share an experience or ask a question. For brands, it's a way to understand audience needs, improve service and respond to negative signals in time.

How to manage comments

  1. Enabling and disabling comments By default, comments on Facebook are enabled. To manage them:
  • Go to your profile settings via the icon in the top right corner.
  • Find the “Privacy” section.
  • Select “Public Postings.”
  • In the “Comment Ranking” section, click “Edit” to enable or disable comment ranking. Tip: Disabling comments can be useful for publications where feedback is not required, but for businesses it can reduce engagement.
  1. Who sees the comments? Comments on public posts are seen by anyone who can see the post itself. A “globe” icon next to a post means that the post and comments are available to all Facebook users.

For private posts, viewers are limited by the author's privacy settings.

  1. Deleting or hiding comments If unwanted content (insults, spam) appears on the page, the administrator can:

Hide a comment:

  • Hover over the text.
  • Click the three dots next to the comment.
  • Select “Hide comment.” Important: A hidden comment remains visible to the author and his friends, but is inaccessible to other users.

Delete comment:

  • Follow the same steps, but select “Delete comment”.

Recommendations for managing comments

  1. Respond to negativity constructively. Negative comments, as long as they are within the bounds of decency, are an opportunity to show professionalism and loyalty. Try to respond to the user and offer a solution to the problem.

  2. Hide spam and insults. Such comments ruin the reputation of the page and distract the audience.

  3. moderate wisely. Constant monitoring of activity on the page will help to identify and eliminate unwanted content in a timely manner.

  4. use automation. There are tools to automatically manage comments: filters to block certain words, autoresponders and notifications of new reactions.

Comments on Facebook are a powerful interaction tool that, if managed properly, helps to strengthen the connection with your audience and maintain the reputation of your brand.
