On Twitter, deleting an account happens in two steps. First, you disable the account for 30 days, and if you don't log into the account during this period, it will be permanently deleted. It is important that after this time, your login and name will no longer be linked to the account.

Instructions for deleting a Twitter account:

  1. Log in to your account.
  2. Go to settings:
  • On your computer or phone, open the menu and select Settings and Privacy.
  1. Go to Account and select Deactivate my account (or Deactivate my Account).
  2. Confirm the action:
  • When the confirmation page opens, tap Disable (or Deactivate).
  • Enter your password to confirm.
  1. Your account will then be deactivated for 30 days. During this period, you can undo the deactivation by logging into your account. If you do not log in within a month, the account will be permanently deleted.

What happens after I delete my account?

Once deleted, all tweets and data will be removed from your page, but content sent to other users will remain with them. It is also important to remember that search engines may retain the information in their indexes despite deleting your account.

What do I do if my account is recovered?

If you receive an account recovery email within 30 days of your deletion request, your account may have been compromised. If this is the case, reapply for deletion and do not log into your account for a month to complete the process.

This process gives you time to think about the deletion decision and reverse it if you change your mind.
