How to save a stream on Twitch
On Twitch, broadcasts are saved in the Video on Demand (VOD) archive, which allows viewers to revisit past streams and also gives authors the opportunity to analyze their performances. Video archiving is available through the settings and allows you to organize convenient access to the content.
Basic rules for saving streams
The VOD function is enabled and disabled through the broadcast settings on the author's panel. To activate archiving, you need to go to the “VOD Settings” section and switch the slider to the “active” position. Videos uploaded via Twitch Turbo and Twitch Prime, or belonging to partners of the platform, are saved for 60 days, for companions - 14 days, for all other users - 7 days. Time limits do not apply to “highlights” and “uploads” related content.
Once VOD is activated, all videos from broadcasts begin to be saved to the archive automatically. Exceptions can be set manually, allowing only selected streams to be saved. Selected fragments can be saved indefinitely in the “highlights” category. Video “on demand” and “upload” settings via the video studio in the control panel are also available.
How to create highlights
Any portion of a broadcast can be saved as a “highlight”. This is useful for creating short videos or presentations. To create such a moment, you need to go to the video studio and select the corresponding button. After that, you select a part of the video on the timeline and save it. During the editing process, you can add, delete or modify segments. Once you have finished editing, you can publish the “highlights”.
Export videos to YouTube
You can export your saved videos to YouTube without having to download them to your device first. To do this, you need to link your Twitch and YouTube accounts. Once linked, you can easily transfer content to the other platform.
